Four Gate Batch 27 is a limited-release straight rye whiskey aged for a minimum of seven years and bottled at 57.65% ABV (115.3 proof) in a 75cl bottle. Only 2,628 bottles were produced. The rye was distilled in Dearborn County, Indiana, from 95% rye and 5% malted barley. It was then finished in Kelvin Cooperage's Split Stave casks, which alternate toasted and charred French oak staves in a single barrel. The nose offers vanilla, toasted marshmallow, spearmint and black pepper. The palate pairs bold rye spice with dark cherry, black tea, liquorice and sugar-dusted mint. The finish is long, with rye spice, semi-sweet chocolate and tea leaves.
