Four Roses – Bourbon (70cl, 40%)

This is Four Roses Bourbon, a Kentucky straight bourbon in a 70cl bottle at 40% ABV. It is made from a selection of up to ten recipes, combining two mash bills with five yeast strains. One mash bill holds 60% corn and 35% rye, the other 75% corn and 20% rye, each with 5% malted barley. The bourbon matures for at least five years in new charred American oak casks, and the matured whiskeys are then married. The nose is floral and honeyed with gentle spice, apricot, peach and lavender. On the palate come fresh apple and pear, then stone fruit, floral tones and oak caramel. The finish is soft and long, leaving brown sugar and mild spice.
