Four Roses – Single Barrel (70cl, 50%)

This is Four Roses Single Barrel, a straight bourbon from the Four Roses Distillery in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. It is bottled at 50% ABV (100 proof) in a 70cl bottle. Each bottling comes from a single barrel chosen by the master distiller, after seven to nine years in new charred American oak. It is made to the OBSV recipe, which pairs a rye-rich mash bill of 60% corn, 35% rye and 5% malted barley with the V yeast. It is bottled with natural colour. The nose combines dried spices and pear with cocoa and vanilla, with a sweet note of maple syrup. The palate shows ripe plum and cherry. The finish is soft and lingers.
