This is a Kentucky straight bourbon from Four Roses, a private barrel selection bottled from a single barrel at 50% in a 750ml bottle. It uses the OESK recipe, one of the distillery's ten.
OESK combines the 'E' mashbill of 75% corn, 20% rye and 5% malted barley with the 'K' yeast strain. The whisky was aged for seven to nine years in new charred American oak barrels.
The nose brings cinnamon, clove, warm caramel and earthy tea leaves, with a light almond note beneath the oak. On the palate caramel and vanilla give way to baking spice, rye pepper, cherry and almond. The finish is medium to long, warm and spicy, settling into oak tannins and faint dried fruit.
