This is a small batch Kentucky straight rye from Frank August of Lexington, bottled at 50% ABV (100 proof). It is the brand's first regularly available rye, following its bourbons, and is made without artificial sweetening or other additives.
On the nose there is rye spice, with pepper, caraway and dried herb alongside caramel and vanilla. The palate leads with cinnamon and pepper, supported by sweetness from corn and caramel from the oak, and the finish is warm and spiced, with rye grain and pepper lingering.
