Gelston's 12 Year Old Single Malt Irish Whiskey Sherry Finish (70cl, 43%)

This is a 12-year-old Irish single malt from Gelston's, matured in ex-bourbon casks and then finished for a further 115 to 160 days in casks that previously held Pedro Ximénez sherry. It is bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle, without added colour. The character is non-smoky, with fruity sweetness, chocolate and cinnamon spice, plus malty and nutty notes. The nose offers ripe blackberries, juicy nectarines and a little cocoa, with apple, strawberry, dessert wine and honey-roasted nuts. On the palate, orange peel and dark chocolate meet rum raisins and cane sugar, then dried fruit and white chocolate lead into malt, with almond, apple pie and hazelnut. The finish is long, with clear cinnamon and peppery spice.
