Gerston - The Lost Distillery

Gerston - The Lost Distillery is a blended malt named after Gerston, a lost distillery. The name recalls two distilleries, Gerston One and Gerston Two. Gerston One was a family-run, farm-scale distillery that had been working for more than eighty years. Gerston Two opened in 1886 with a capacity of 80,000 litres of spirit a year and was the largest distillery in Caithness. It used the natural fall of the land to move liquids by gravity, and production there lasted just over two decades. The whisky is described as tasting of ripened fruit, toffee, smoke and spice.
