Girvan – 12 Year Old 2007 Murray McDavid (46%)

This is a 12 year old single grain whisky from Girvan, distilled in 2007 and bottled by Murray McDavid for its Select Grain series at 46%. It is a limited edition. The whisky spent most of its years in a bourbon hogshead before being finished in a first-fill Madeira barrique. The nose offers walnuts, syrupy pineapple, coconut cream and caramel, with a touch of milk chocolate praline. On the palate there is honey, lemon pulp, more caramel and peppery green oak. The finish keeps the caramel, with biscuit notes and barley sugar with cardamom.
