Glen Moray – 12 Year Old 2008 Lady of the Glen (56.6%)

This is a single cask Glen Moray from Speyside, distilled on 28 October 2008 and bottled on 2 September 2021 after twelve years. It was bottled at a natural cask strength of 56.6%, and 260 bottles were filled. The whisky matured in a former bourbon cask, which brought vanilla, and then spent over a year finishing in a Veneto Botti Amarone wine cask, adding cherry and liquorice. The nose is sweet, with red berry compote, ground ginger, caramel shortcake and a liquorice note that builds. The palate balances sweet and dry, with oatcakes, strawberry jam, baked pears with cinnamon and buttery oak. The finish brings vanilla, white chocolate, a little light smoke and baked cinnamon apple cake.
