This is a 15 year old Speyside single malt from Glen Moray, bottled by Wilson & Morgan at 57.9% ABV. It is a vatting of three casks that were finished in port.
The finish lasted 54 months in second-fill port casks, a choice meant to keep the wine from overwhelming a delicate whisky. The port influence is well integrated rather than obvious.
The nose offers black and red cherries and liqueur-filled chocolate. The palate is creamy and fairly dark, with the waxy, mineral distillery character still present alongside maraschino cherries, Sacher cake, dried plums and a touch of spice. The finish is peppery, lively and warm, growing in intensity.
