Glen Moray – 21 Year Old Portwood Finish (70cl, 46.3%)

This Glen Moray 21 Year Old belongs to the Heritage Collection, introduced in 2019 and made in small batches. The whisky spent 19 years in American oak casks that previously held bourbon, followed by a two-year finish in Port casks from Porto Cruz. It is bottled at 46.3% in a 70cl bottle, without chill-filtration or added colour. The Port adds dark chocolate notes and a full, velvety character to the spiced sweetness of the first maturation. The nose has intense berries, creamy vanilla, strong caramel and a hint of gingerbread. On the palate come blackcurrants and liquorice, then soft caramel toffee and chocolate with a touch of chilli. The finish is long, with dark chocolate and caramelised raisins.
