This is an 18 year old Speyside single malt from Glen Spey, distilled in 2001 and bottled by Gordon & MacPhail in its Connoisseurs Choice range. It was matured in a single refill sherry hogshead, which gave 244 bottles at 56.3% ABV, each of 70cl.
The nose combines pressed apples with sweet toffee and pear. The palate offers rich tropical fruit, then a hint of black pepper and toasted almonds. The finish is long, with a touch of star anise.
