GlenAllachie – 12 Years Old Spanish Virgin Oak Finish (70cl, 48%)

This is a 12 year old single malt from GlenAllachie, bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle. It matured first in ex-bourbon barrels, then spent 18 months in virgin Spanish oak hogsheads. Billy Walker chose hogsheads of Quercus robur oak from Galicia and Asturias, in the Cantabrian Mountains. The wood is air-dried for around 18 months before use. The whisky belongs to the Virgin Oak series and is bottled in natural colour and non-chill-filtered. The nose offers honey, coconut and syrup, followed by orange peel and cinnamon. On the palate come layers of heather honey, molasses, coconut and orange peel, mixed with mocha, nutmeg and cinnamon.
