GlenAllachie – 8 Years Koval Rye Quarter Cask Finish (70cl, 48%)

This is an eight-year-old GlenAllachie single malt in a 70cl bottle, bottled at 48% ABV and deep gold in colour. It matured first in American oak, then moved into quarter casks of about 50 litres that had held organic rye whisky from the Koval Distillery in Chicago. The smaller casks bring more wood into contact with the spirit, and the spiciness of the rye shapes the character of the whisky. The nose is full and spicy, with cinnamon, nutmeg, honey and butterscotch. On the palate it is sweet and spiced, with honey, butterscotch, stewed apples and cloves.
