Glendalough 17 Year is an Irish single malt, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It spent 15 years in a first-fill bourbon cask before being finished in Mizunara, a Japanese oak sourced from an island 6,000 miles away.
The bourbon cask gave vibrant citrus over sweet honey and vanilla. The Mizunara then rounded the whiskey and brought a creamy, viscous mouthfeel.
The nose offers oriental incense, woody spices and coconut alongside lighter, fruity notes. The palate is sweet but spicy, smooth and complex.
