Glendalough – 7 Years Mizunara Oak Finish

A seven-year-old Irish single malt from Glendalough, finished in casks of Japanese Mizunara oak. It was first matured in ex-bourbon casks of American oak, then moved into Mizunara casks, a wood that is very rare and demanding for coopers to work with. The nose is bold, fruity and floral. The palate is fresh and lemony, with an orchard feel, then a soft, luxurious texture of dark chocolate with orange, sandalwood and cinnamon, notes typical of Mizunara. The finish is exceptionally long, with toasted oak and oriental spices, and bitter chocolate lingering longest.
