Glendalough – Double Barrel Cask Strength (61.3%)

Glendalough Double Barrel is an Irish whiskey bottled from the cask at 61.3% ABV. It begins its maturation in charred American oak bourbon casks and is finished in first-fill Oloroso casks from Montilla, a small town in the hills of the Spanish countryside. The bodega, the casks and the cooper in this part of Spain were all chosen to give the whiskey a sense of the land, which the slowly toasted casks pass on as it rests. The nose is rich with dark fruit, nuts and citrus, with a note of nutmeg. The palate is sweet and soft, with cherries, honey and peppercorns. The finish is long, with warming ginger spice and hints of nuts.
