Glenglassaugh – 1973 Rare Cask Batch 3 42 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (70cl, 40.6%)

Glenglassaugh 1973 is a 42 year old single malt from the distillery's Rare Cask series, Batch 3, drawn from a single ex-bourbon barrel, cask 5638. It was distilled on 9 November 1973 and bottled in November 2016 at 40.6%, in a 70cl bottle. The outturn was 238 bottles. Master Distiller Billy Walker selected the cask. The whisky is non-chill-filtered, with its colour taken entirely from the wood. The nose offers roasted orchard fruits, fresh vanilla pods and gentle cinnamon and ginger. The palate brings pears poached in five spice, hazelnuts and dry cedar.
