Octaves Peated Batch 2 is a Glenglassaugh single malt bottled at 44% ABV in a 70cl bottle, with natural colour and no filtration. It is made with peated malt from the Highlands. It matured in octave casks that previously held bourbon, port and Oloroso sherry, all spent in the distillery's coastal warehouses. Master blender Dr Rachel Barrie selected the casks for the batch. The nose balances sweetness and salty smoke with a maritime edge: salted caramel biscuits, chilli chocolate, charred driftwood, smoked fish and mango. On the palate come apricot, ginger and smoked bacon. The finish brings roasted nuts, spiced fruit and lingering wood smoke.
