Glenglassaugh Portsoy is a heavily peated Highland single malt Scotch whisky, in a 70cl bottle at 49.1% ABV. It takes its name from the fishing village of Portsoy on the Moray Firth coast.
The distillery stands on Sandend Bay in Aberdeenshire and was founded in 1875. The whisky is made from richly peated malted barley, distilled in copper pot stills and matured in sherry, bourbon and port casks in dunnage warehouses close to the North Sea.
The nose combines sea air and bonfire smoke with mango, melon, toffee and milk chocolate. The palate has dark chocolate, charred pineapple, treacle and sea salt. The finish is long, with maritime peat smoke, peppery oak and stewed berries.
