Glengoyne – 25 Year Old (75cl, 48%)

This is a 25-year-old Highland single malt Scotch whisky from Glengoyne, bottled at 48% ABV in a 75cl bottle. It was matured entirely in hand-selected sherry casks, with no bourbon wood involved. Glengoyne dries its barley with warm air rather than peat smoke, and distils slowly in copper pot stills on the Highland Line north of Glasgow. The nose offers ripe red fruits, damson, bramble, old leather and brown sugar, with pecan, dried fig and gentle spice emerging later. On the palate are cinnamon, stewed fruit, figs, raisins and chocolate, with Seville marmalade, hazelnut and butterscotch. The finish is very long, with spicy liquorice and gentle oak tannins.
