Glengoyne – 30 Years (previous edition) (70cl, 46.8%)

Glengoyne 30 Years is a single malt bottled at 46.8% in a 70cl bottle. It is a vatting of 13 sherry casks: one third European first-fill sherry casks and two thirds refill sherry casks, all matured in the distillery's own warehouses. The refill casks add flavour and colour without bringing too much oak, and their fresher, fruitier character balances the weight of the first-fill casks. Despite the dark chocolate and dried fruit of the sherry, the whisky keeps a freshness. The nose offers black cherry, jam, tea rose, rum and raisin chocolate. On the palate, sweetness turns quickly to stewed plum, cinnamon, cloves and tannin jam. The finish is soft, dry oak with cinnamon.
