Glengoyne – Legacy Series Chapter Two 2020 (70cl, 48%)

Glengoyne Legacy Series Chapter Two is the second bottling in a series about the people and history of the distillery. This chapter honours Cochran Cartwright, the distillery manager who set the Glengoyne style in 1869 by making the distillation the slowest in Scotland. It is bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle, without chill-filtration. The whisky was matured in three types of cask: 48% first-fill bourbon, 17% first-fill sherry and 35% refill oak. Its deep amber colour comes only from the time in oak. The nose offers banana bread, toasted coconut, lemon cake and a little honey. The palate brings tinned peach, apple pie, lychee and cinnamon French toast, and the finish is creamy with vanilla custard, cooked pear and oak spice.
