Glenkinchie – 12 Year Old (70cl, 43%)

Glenkinchie 12 Year Old is a Lowland single malt in a 70cl bottle, bottled at 43% ABV. The distillery stands among barley fields about 30 kilometres from Edinburgh, which is why the malt is also called The Edinburgh Malt. Fermentation takes place in wooden washbacks, some of Oregon pine and some of Canadian larch. Two large copper stills do the distilling, and the spirit is cooled in a cast iron worm tub rather than a modern condenser, which is said to give the whisky more character and depth.
