Glenkinchie – Distillers Edition (70cl, 43%)

Glenkinchie Distillers Edition is a Lowland single malt in a 70cl bottle, bottled at 43%. It matures first in used American and European oak casks, then moves for a second maturation into American oak casks that previously held Amontillado sherry. Their insides were charred again and they were given new, heavily charred American oak ends. It belongs to a series released each year since 1997, with casks chosen individually. The whisky is chill-filtered and has added colour. The nose combines dry wine notes with sweet, nutty barley and cask wood. The palate is lightly oily and malty-sweet, with raisins and dates, before turning drier with warming wood spice. The finish is very long and drying, with clear oak and white pepper.
