This Glenlivet was distilled on 27 March 1974 and bottled on 2 December 2015 at 41 years old, as part of Signatory Vintage's Cask Strength Collection. It comes from cask number 1 at 46.8% ABV, in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky spent most of its life maturing in hogsheads before a finishing period in oloroso sherry casks.
The nose is drier than might be expected, with tobaccos, earth, nuts, wild mushrooms, camphor, pine sap, ferns, mosses and walnuts. The palate is very oaky, with bitter chocolate, cigar, coffee beans and black tea. The finish is very long.
