This is a Highland single malt from Glenmorangie, in a 70cl bottle at 57.1%. It is not chill-filtered. Astar, Gaelic for journey, was created in 2008 and matured entirely in custom-made casks of American white oak from the Ozarks in Missouri.
The nose is toffee and crème brûlée with fresh menthol, warm cinnamon and aniseed, followed by mint and sweet honey and lemon. The palate brings crème brûlée with pineapple, poached pears and apricots, wrapped in vanilla custard. The finish is long and soft, with honey, almonds, coconut ice cream and a trace of aniseed.
