Glenmorangie Finealta is the second release in the distillery's Private Edition series, following Sonnalta. It is made with lightly peated barley and bottled at 46%.
The name is Gaelic for elegance. The whisky is said to be inspired by a recently discovered 1903 order for Glenmorangie from the Savoy Hotel. It was matured in ex-sherry casks and new American oak casks.
The nose is warm and aromatic, lightly fruity and sweet, with light wood and vanilla. The palate is gently spiced yet fairly soft, with wood and a little sweetness. The finish is medium in length, ending on wood.
