Glenmorangie – Spios Private Edition No. 9 (70cl, 46%)

Glenmorangie Spios is the ninth Private Edition from the Highland distillery, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. Bill Lumsden created it, and the name is Scottish Gaelic for spicy. It is the first Glenmorangie single malt matured entirely in casks that previously held American rye whiskey. The colour is light gold. The nose is fresh and herbal, with hints of cherry, clove and mint toffee, then green grass. On the palate the rye character comes through with toffee, clove, cinnamon and nutmeg, alongside sweet, buttery vanilla. The finish is rich, sweet and long, with toffee and Brazil nut next to citrus.
