Glenmorangie The Altus is a 25 year old single malt bottled at 43%. It spends a quarter of a century maturing in bourbon casks designed specially for Glenmorangie, chosen to bring out the distillery's characteristic fruitiness. A touch of Madeira cask influence then adds depth, spice and a honeyed richness.
The nose offers orange blossom, soft honey, ripe peach and pear, with almond, vanilla and a nutty toffee warmth. The palate is oily and velvety, with tangerine, peach, apple and pear, tart gooseberry and yellow plum, then buttery sweetness, almond marzipan and ripe banana. The finish keeps orchard fruit, honeyed oak and a hint of candied citrus.
