Glenrothes 25 Years Old 1996 is a Speyside single malt distilled on 7 March 1996 and bought by the independent bottler Signatory Vintage. It matured in two hogsheads and was bottled on 20 September 2021 at cask strength, 50.9%, in a 70cl bottle. The outturn was 456 bottles.
It belongs to Signatory's Cask Strength Collection.
Tasting notes describe sweet dried fruit and spicy malt on the nose, with walnut and oak. The palate is full-bodied, with salted butter and sweet milk chocolate, set against citrus, sharp ginger, cinnamon and clove pepper, plus strawberry and rhubarb. The finish brings freshly cut oak, roasted notes and sweet caramel.
