Glenrothes – Maker's Cut (70cl, 48.8%)

A Speyside single malt from Glenrothes, bottled at 48.8% in a 70cl bottle. It belongs to the Soleo Collection, introduced in 2018 to replace the distillery's Vintage and Reserve bottlings, with every whisky in the range matured in sherry casks. Maker's Cut was matured entirely in first-fill sherry oak casks. The wood gives it a deep colour, so it is bottled at natural colour. The nose is raisins, candied orange peel and fresh oak. The palate is robust, with spice, creamy vanilla and orange peel. The finish is long and fruity, with orange peel and a touch of nutmeg.
