Glenturret – 7 Years Peat Smoked

A seven-year-old single malt from Glenturret, the distillery near Crieff in Perthshire. It was matured in sherry casks made from American oak, and the peat smoke in this Highland whisky sits against sweet fruit. The nose is robust peat smoke and sweet dried fruit, followed by salted almonds and candied orange. The palate is earthy, with savoury wood smoke and vegetal peat balanced by sponge-like malt, caramel and a piquant preserve. The finish is oily, with tobacco, charcoal, chocolate, Brazil nuts and spiced coffee.
