Ruadh Maor is a peated Glenturret single malt, bottled independently by Berry Bros. & Rudd. This is the 2010 winter release, bottled at 57.1% abv.
The whisky has a sherry finish, which adds dried fruit to a smoky, savoury character.
The nose brings grilled ham, campfire ash and spent fireworks alongside the dried fruit. On the palate it is full-bodied, with heavy peat smoke, woody spice, cloves, fresh leather and juicy fruit cake, before the meaty notes return. The finish stays robust and peaty, with lingering ash.
