Grant's Stand Fast is an old blended whisky from the 1960s, bottled at 35% ABV in a 769ml bottle. It is described as a blend containing Girvan, Balvenie and Glenfiddich. The name is the slogan of Clan Grant, as the old label records.
The colour is gold. The nose is grainy, with hay, apricot, mirabelle, honey and ripe pear, plus a natural vanilla that comes from the spirit rather than the oak. On the palate it is smokier than present-day malts, even ashy, with smoked meat, cocoa, tobacco and a savoury umami note. The finish is medium, salty and ashy, with bitter orange and herbs.
