Great Drams Invergordon 20 Year Old Single Grain (70cl, 48.2%)

This is a 20 year old single grain whisky from Invergordon, bottled by Great Drams in a 70cl bottle. It is a single cask release of 500 bottles, non-chill-filtered and of natural colour, at 48.2%. The spirit was distilled in October 2002 and bottled in November 2022, and it spent its time in an ex-sherry cask. Most of Invergordon's spirit goes into Whyte & Mackay blends, so a single grain bottling is unusual. This one won silver at the 2023 San Francisco World Spirits Competition and the 2023 London Spirits Competition. The notes are fruity, with fudge, caramel, a touch of prune and a hint of vanilla, and a whisper of smoke tying the winter fruit and caramel together.
