This Kentucky straight bourbon from Green River, in a 75cl bottle, was bottled for the US Army's 250th anniversary. Its strength of 111.1 proof (55.55% ABV) honours Veterans Day on 11 November. Green River has made bourbon in Owensboro, Kentucky since 1885.
The mash bill is 75% Kentucky-grown corn, 15% rye and 10% malted barley, and the whiskey is aged between 4 and 7 years. It has a deep golden amber colour.
Caramel, black cherry, cocoa and a touch of peppermint run through the nose and palate. The finish is long, with toffee sweetness, toasted oak and a lingering warm spice.
