Green River Full Proof Wheated Bourbon (75cl, 54.7%)

A barrel-strength wheated Kentucky bourbon from Green River Distilling Company in Owensboro, in a 750ml bottle. It is bottled without reduction at between 109 and 116 proof, depending on the batch. The mashbill is 70% corn, 21% wheat and 9% malted barley, with wheat taking the place of the rye found in most bourbon. The barrels are hand-selected after five to seven years in the distillery's clay tile warehouses, which hold heat longer than wood-frame buildings. The nose is caramel and toasted oak with vanilla bean, baking spice, dark stone fruit and a thread of tangerine. The palate runs from toffee and brown sugar to toasted wheat and roasted pecans, and the finish is long and warming.
