Green River – Kentucky Straight Bourbon (75cl, 45%)

This is a Kentucky straight bourbon from Green River, a distillery in Owensboro that began in 1885 and is the tenth oldest licensed in the state. It is bottled at 90 proof and aged on site in some of Kentucky's oldest warehouses. The mashbill is 70% locally sourced corn, 21% winter rye and 9% malted barley, and the extra rye gives warming spice on the nose and palate. The colour is a golden amber. Expect cinnamon, dried cherry and light leather on the nose, then spice, vanilla, caramel and chocolate-coated peppermints, with a rich, lingering mouthfeel.
