Hakata 18 Years Old Sherry Cask Whisky (70cl)

Hakata 18 Years Old is a sherry cask whisky distilled and matured in Fukuoka, Japan, at the Hikari Distillery, which was founded in 1912. The mash is 100% barley, with a portion fermented using koji, which brings a savoury umami character. The sherry casks rest in traditional warehouses and a few open-air ones, where they meet humid summers and cold winters. Sherry plays the dominant role here, alongside oak and umami. The nose offers dark cherry, cola, roses and a strong sherry influence. On the palate come tart cherries, dates and graham cracker, with umami to the fore. The finish carries vanilla, old oak and fresh berries.
