This is an 18 year old Japanese single malt from Hakushu, made from peated malt. The edition honours the hundredth anniversary of the House of Suntory. It matured in American oak and ex-sherry casks and is bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle, with natural colour and no chill-filtration.
Hakushu distillery was founded in 1973 at the foot of Mount Kaikomagatake and is counted among the highest distilleries in the world. Its name translates as white sandbars, a reference to the mineral-rich river waters and spring water that supply the distillery.
