Hazelburn Barolo Cask is a 9 year old single malt from the Springbank distillery in Campbeltown, bottled at 57.9% in a 70cl bottle. It is unpeated and triple distilled.
The spirit was distilled in 2007 and spent six years in first-fill bourbon casks, then three more in refill Barolo wine casks. It was bottled in 2016 as a limited release of 10,800 bottles.
The nose is sweet confectionery and fruit salad, moving into sugared almonds, sorbet and soft fruit. On the palate there is pepper and light tannins, then dried fruit, raisins and a hint of desiccated coconut. The finish is lightly dry and fruity, with chocolate, brown sugar and vanilla.
