Heartwood Hail Mary is a cask strength single malt, bottled at 58.6% ABV in a 50cl bottle. Louis and Tim at Heartwood built it from bourbon, sherry and port casks, plus a generous measure of random samples. The components went through the distillery's sweat box to strip out volatiles before bottling in North Hobart.
It was filled in October 2021, and only 205 individually numbered bottles were produced. The label presents it as a long-shot experiment.
It is described as rich, juicy and persistent, with thick waves of flavour and an intense palate that is not overcooked, leading into a long finish.
