Henderson American Whiskey (175cl, 40%)

Henderson is an American blended whiskey from North Texas Distillers, bottled at 40% in a large 1.75-litre format. The blend is 20 percent bourbon and 80 percent grain neutral spirits. The bourbon part is aged in used white oak barrels rather than new charred oak, which gives a softer, less tannic wood influence. The nose has banana muffins, vanilla-candied walnut and buckwheat pancake. The palate is crisp and satiny, with vanilla, caramel and a measured peppery note, and the medium finish carries peppery warmth, black liquorice and caramel.
