Hibiki 12 Years Old is a Suntory blend of malt and grain whiskies, drawn mainly from the Yamazaki, Hakushu and Chita distilleries. It is matured in American oak, sherry casks and Mizunara oak, and includes whiskies finished in Umeshu casks, which held Japanese plum liqueur.
The name Hibiki means resonance in Japanese.
The nose is light and floral, with honey, orange blossom, soft pear, almond and a little oak spice. The palate is silky and mellow, with apricot, toffee and cinnamon. The finish carries lingering fruit sweetness, sandalwood and a faint wisp of smoke.
