Hibiki 17 Year Old is a Japanese blended whisky, bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. It combines malt and grain whiskies from the Yamazaki and Hakushu distilleries, more than 30 in all, each aged for at least 17 years and brought to strength with Japanese spring water. Some of the whiskies matured in Umeshu casks, and the name means harmony.
The nose is quite full, with honey, wax, resin and oak, gentle smoke and cacao. The palate is sweet and rich, with mixed peels, raisin, custard and plenty of oak. The finish is long, with oak, cocoa and sherried peels.
