This is Hibiki 30 Year Old, a Japanese blend created by Suntory as the finest expression of the Hibiki name. It is the oldest in the Hibiki range, and its bottle has 30 facets, one for each year of age.
The colour is dark gold. The nose opens with marzipan, orange marmalade, nutmeg, apricot jam, quince and chamomile, then turns spicier with ginger, juniper berries and saffron, alongside old Sauternes, vanilla crème and bergamot. The palate starts sweetish, with marshmallow and bubblegum, before firm oak and spice arrive: nutmeg, white pepper, mild curry and spearmint, drying slightly towards the end.
