Hibiki Japanese Harmony (70cl, 43%)

Hibiki Japanese Harmony is a Japanese blend without an age statement, bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. It brings together malt and grain whiskies from Suntory's Yamazaki, Hakushu and Chita distilleries. At its introduction in 2015 the blend drew on at least ten whiskies matured in five types of cask. American white oak forms the base, with sherry casks and Japanese Mizunara oak adding to the mix. The bottle has 24 facets, a reference to the 24 traditional Japanese seasons, and its label is made from Echizen washi paper. The nose offers rose and lychee with a little rosemary and sandalwood. Honeyed sweetness, candied orange peel and white chocolate lead on the palate, and the finish is long and delicate, with Mizunara and a touch of cinnamon.
