High Coast – Founders' Reserve 11 Year Old (50cl, 50.3%)

Founders' Reserve is an 11 year old whisky from High Coast, made as a tribute to the distillery's six founders, who chose the casks together. It was the distillery's first 11 year old and was first released to subscribers of its newsletter. The vatting is 76.7% unpeated whisky from 200-litre bourbon casks and 230-litre new American oak casks, with 23.3% peated whisky from 200-litre bourbon casks. It was bottled at 50.3% in 2,000 half-litre bottles, non-chill-filtered and without colouring. The nose offers apple blossom, gooseberry, pencil shavings and cream caramel with light peat smoke. The palate brings ripe pear, vanilla sugar, nutmeg and sweet liquorice. The finish is long and warming, ending in smoke and leather.
