High Coast – Hav 6 Year Old Batch 6 (70cl, 48%)

Hav is a single malt from High Coast in Sweden, released as Batch 6 in the Origins series. The name means sea in Swedish and points to the distillery's position on the Ångerman river, where it flows towards the Baltic. The batch marries 76.82% unpeated malt with 23.18% peated malt, matured for over six years in ex-bourbon casks and in Swedish, Hungarian and American oak, plus new Mongolian oak. It is bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle, non-chill-filtered and without added colour. Fruit, clove and nutmeg open the nose ahead of light peat. Juicy fruit meets spicy oak on the palate, and oak, clove and vanilla run through the finish.
